Catherine "Caty" Brewer has been selected as February Kiwanis Student of the Month by Southern Local High School.
Caty is the daughter of Jenny and Kyle Brewer of Salineville and granddaughter of Judy and Ray Brewer.
Caty is currently ranked 20th in her class with a 3.694 Grade Point Average.
Caty has been a member of the Spanish Club for 2 years, Student Council for 4 years, and FFA Member for 4 years where she is the treasurer and was named 1st place Top Fruit Sales Person all 4 years.
Caty has been a 4-H member for 5 years where she has been the Baler Twaines 4-H President for 3 years. She has also done extensive community service work with the Franklin Township Fire Department, the Jr. Fair Board, and the Salineville Kiwanis Club.
Caty is a 1-year basketball letter winner, a 2-year golf letter winner, a 3-year Track and Field letter winner, and a 4-year Cross Country letter winner. She has received numerous awards in Track and Cross Country including honorable mention and championship awards for her 800 meter runs and relay teams. Caty has also received Cross County award including 1st Team, and 2nd Team, and Honorable Mention EOAC, OVAC, All-County, and All-District throughout her high school career.
After high school, Caty plans to attend college to pursue a degree in Radiologic Technology.

Mara Miller has been selected as January Kiwanis Student of the Month by Southern Local High School.
Mara is the daughter of Kelli Pastore, the granddaughter of Myrna Pastore, of Salineville, and father Matthew Miller.
Mara is currently ranked 4th in her class with a 4.112 Grade Point Average. Mara is graduating a year early.
Mara has been the Spanish Club secretary for 2 years, the Yearbook editor for 2 years, a member of the Varsity Club, and Student Council. She has participated in the CCP program for 3 years.
Mara is a member of FFA. She is currently working on her FFA State Degree that she will receive in May.
Mara has been a member of the Cross Country Team, Indoor Track Team, Outdoor Track Team, and cheerleading squad throughout her time at Southern Local. She is a 3-year letter winner in cross country and football cheerleading. She is a 2-year letter winner in track and field and a 1-year letter winner in basketball cheerleading.
Mara has had an exemplary athletic career at Southern Local. She is a two-time Cross Country Regional Qualifier in 2024 and 2025. She has received numerous awards in Cross Country including, All-District in 2024 and 2025, EOAC Champion in 2024, EOAC Runner Up in 2025, EOAC 1st Team in 2023, 2024, and 2025, OVAC Runner UP in 2024, OVAC 1st Team in 2023, 2024, and 2025, OVAC Team Runner Up in 2024, and All-County in 2023, 2024, and 2025.
Mara was an Indoor Track State Qualifier in 2025 in the 3200m where she placed 9th. She is currently ranked 6th in state for the 3200m and 5th in the 4x800 meter relay.
Mara received numerous awards and recognitions for Track and Field. She received the 3200m Champion in 2024 and 2025, the 1600m Runner Up in 2024 and 2025, and the 4x800 meter Runner Up in 2024 and 2025. She received the OVAC 3rd Team for the 3200m in 2024 and 2025, OVAC 3rd Team in the 4x800m relay in 2025. She received the All-County 3200m in 2025.
Mara currently holds the school record in the 3200m.
After graduation, Mara plans to attend Malone University on an academic and athletic scholarship and will major in the High School Education with plans to obtain her Master's Degree in counseling.

Allyssa Shroades has been selected as December Kiwanis Student of the Month by Southern Local High School.
Allyssa is the daughter of Steven and Christina Shroades of Salineville.
Allyssa is currently ranked 7th in her class with a 3.978 Grade Point Average. She has been on the Honor Roll during her high school career.
Allyssa is a member of student council, Spanish Club, Varsity Club, and National Honor Society.
Allyssa was a member of the volleyball and basketball teams. During her volleyball career, she has received 1st Team EOAC, All Conference OVAC, 2nd Team OHSVAC District 1 and Maxpreps Player of the year.
During her basketball career, Allyssa received 1st Team EOAC, All Star 2023, 2nd Team All Columbiana County All Star 2023, 2nd Team All OVAC All Star 2023, Honorable Mention All Area Morning Journal 2023, Honorable Mention Northeast Inland District Division IV 2023, 1st Team All EOAC Honors 2024-2025. She currently holds the school records for 3 pointers in a game, 2 pointers in a season, as well as 3 pointers in a career.
After high school, Allyssa plans to attend Kent State University to major in nursing.

Brooke Boyle has been selected as November Kiwanis Student of the Month by Southern Local High School.
Brooke is the daughter of Brent and Jody Boyle of Hanoverton.
Brooke is currently ranked 2nd in her class with a 4.156 Grade Point Average.
Brooke participated in the College Credit Plus program. She is a member of Student Council, Spanish Club, National Honor Society and is the Senior Class Treasurer.
Brooke has been a member of the volleyball team for six years, served as captain, and was Second Team EOAC this year. She is also a member of the school's Varsity Club.
Brooke currently attends the Columbiana County Career and Technical Center where she is a member of the cosmetology program. She is a member of the National Technical Honor Society, Skills USA, and is the Cosmetology Class Treasurer.
Brooke plans to take her board licensure exam and begin a career as a licensed cosmetologist in January.

Madalyne "Maddy" Jones has been selected as October Kiwanis Student of the Month by Southern Local High School.
Maddy is the daughter of Nathan and Amanda Jones of Salineville.
Maddy is currently ranked first in her class with a 4.196 Grade Point Average.
Throughout her high school career, Maddy has been involved in College Credit Plus, Spanish Club and Student Council. She is a member of National Honor Society and serves as the Vice President.
Maddy has been involved athletically at Southern Local. She is a 2-year letter winner in basketball. Her junior year, she served as captain. She earned an Honorable Mention All-Columbiana County All-Stars, 2nd Team All-EOAC and 2nd Team All-OVAC.
Maddy is a 3-year letter winner in track and field. She has served as captain. Her focus is shot put and discus. She is a 2 time state qualifier, 2 time OVAC champion in shot put and discus, a 3 time EOAC champion in shot put and discus, Columbiana County shot put and discus, 2 time district shot put champion, district discus champion, 2025 Regional runner up in shot put, 2025 4th place discus winner at the regional meet, 3 time regional qualifier for shot put and discus, EOAC discus record holder, and holds multiple track and field records at Southern Local.
After high school, Maddy plans to attend a 4-year university and major in Biology/Pre-Med.

Haylee Kellogg has been selected as September Kiwanis Student of the Month by Southern Local High School.
Haylee is the daughter of Chad and Nikki Kellogg of Salineville.
Haylee is currently ranked 5th in her class with a 4.086 Grade Point Average.
Throughout Haylee's high school career she has been involved in Drama Club, Pep Band, Student Council, Varsity Club, and the College Credit Plus Program.
She is a 2-year member of the Honors Band, an NHS member, NSHSS member, and is the senior class president.
As an athlete, Haylee is a 4-year letter winner in volleyball, basketball, cheerleading, and band. She is a 3-year letter winner in track and field.
Haylee is active in the community band, works concession stands, and various youth sporting events. She is also employed at the B&S Country Carryout.
After graduation, Haylee plans to attend Kent State University where she will major in Biology. After graduation college with her Masters degree, she would like to go the medical school to eventually become an orthopedic doctor.
