Southern Local/Salineville Kiwanis

Tyler Beadnell has been selected as May Salineville Kiwanis Student of the Month at Southern Local High School.

Tyler is the son of Todd and Nicole Beadnell of Salineville. Tyler holds a 4.202 grade point average and is ranked 8th in his graduating class.

Tyler has been on the Honor Roll throughout his high school career. Tyler is a member of the National Honor Society. He has participated in the College Credit Plus Program at Eastern Gateway Community College and has been named to the President's List. Tyler is a member of the Blue Crew. He also volunteers to take pictures for the year book.

Tyler plans to attend Kent State University and earn a degree in education.

April 2021 Kiwanis Student of the Month

Southern Local/Salineville Kiwanis

Timothy West has been selected as April Salineville Kiwanis Student of the Month at Southern Local High School.

Timothy is the son of Tim and Kristy West of Wellsville. Tim holds a 4.447 grade point average and is ranked 2nd in his class. He has been an honor roll student throughout his high school career.

Tim is a member of the National Honor Society and Varsity Club. He has participated in the College Credit Plus Program at Kent State and Eastern Gateway Community College.

Tim is a 4-year letterman in baseball and a 3-year letterman in football. He has received All Academic Conference recognition, First team EOAC football and Northeast District Honorable Mention.

Outside of school, Tim works on the family farm and local farms. He also volunteers at the East Liverpool City Hospital and Oak Ridge Church.

Tim plans on attending Kent State University where he plans to study architecture.

Brock Smalley has been selected as March Salineville Kiwanis Student of the Month at Southern Local High School.

Brock is the son of Bob and Donna Smalley of Salineville. Brock holds a 4.48 grade point average and is ranked 1st in his class. He has been an honor roll student throughout his high school career.

Brock is a member of the National Honor Society. Brock's sophomore year, he was class secretary. His junior and senior, Brock was class Vice President. Brock has participated in the College Credit Plus Program at Kent State University and Eastern Gateway Community College.

Brock is a 4-year letterman in both basketball and baseball. He has received the EOAC Academic Athlete Award all 4 years. His sophomore year, Brock received the EOAC Honorable Mention honor. His junior year, Brock was named to the EOAC Second team and his senior year, First team honor.

Brock plans to attend The Ohio State University and major in finance with a double minor in marketing and accounting. Brock plans to become a real estate agent.

Delainey Mellott has been selected as February Salineville Kiwanis Student of the Month at Southern Local High School.

Delainey is the daughter of Rick and Jessica Mellott of East Liverpool. Delainey holds a 4.371 grade point average and is ranked 3rd in her class. Delainey has been an Honor Roll student throughout her high school career.

Delainey is an active member of National Honor Society, Varsity Club, President of her senior class, and Student Council. Delainey has participated in the College Credit Plus Program at Kent State and Eastern Gateway Community College.

Delainey is a 4-year letterman in volleyball. She has received the Ohio High School Volleyball Coaches' Association Academic Award, 2020 EOAC second team, and 2020 All District second team. She is also a 3-year letterman in softball and 2-year letterman in basketball.

Outside of school, Delainey is employed at B & S Carryout.

Delainey plans on attending Kent State University in the nursing program. Her career goal is to become a nurse anesthetist.

Mackenzey Infanti has been selected as January Salineville Kiwanis Student of the Month at Southern Local High School.

Mackenzey is the daughter of Ron and Amy Infanti of Wellsville. Mackenzey holds a 4.396 grade point average and is ranked 3rd in her class. Mackenzey has been an Honor Roll student throughout her high school career.

Mackenzey is an active member of National Honor Society, Drama Club, and Varsity Club. She was on the 2019 Fall Homecoming Court. She has served as a teacher's aide and elementary mentor. Mackenzey has participated in the College Credit Program at Eastern Gateway Community College.

Mackenzey is a 3-year letterman in volleyball. She has received the Ohio High School Volleyball Coaches' Association Academic Award, most blocks, and most improved player award.

Outside of school, Mackenzey volunteers with Lindsey's Christmas Hospital Toy Drive and American Red Cross Blood Drive.

Mackenzey plans on attending West Liberty University and major in Zoo Science and Conservation.

Garrett Brewer has been selected as December Salineville Kiwanis Student of the Month at Southern Local High School.

Garrett is the son of Kyle and Jenny Brewer of Salineville. Garrett holds a 4.012 grade point average and is ranked 11th in his class. Garrett has been an All-A-Honor student his entire high school career. 

Garrett is an active member of Southern Local's FFA. He has earned the Greenhand Degree and Chapter Degree. Garrett has been on the State Soil Judging team for 2 years. Garrett has served as the treasurer his junior year. His treasurer's book  received the FFA Gold Rated Treasurer's Book. This year, Garrett serves as President of the FFA.

Garrett is a 2-sport athlete, competing in both football and baseball. Garrett is a 3-year letterman in baseball. He was named 2019 Defensive Player of the Year. Garrett is also a 3-year letterman in football.

Outside of school, Garrett is a member of the Franklin Volunteer Fire Department, an attendant and volunteer at Riley's United Methodist Church, and works as a farmhand and landscaper.

Garrett plans on pursuing a career in law enforcement and becoming a game warden.

Conner Lewis has been selected as November Salineville  Kiwanis Student of the Month  at Southern Local High School. 

Conner is the son of Chris and Nicole Lewis of Salineville. Conner holds a 4.25 grade point average and is ranked 7th in his class. Conner has been an All-A-Roll student his entire high school career. Conner is a member of the National Honor Society. Conner has participated in the College Credit Plus program. Conner has also earned the Ohio Valley Athletic Conference All-Academic Award for the past three years. Outside of academics, Conner has served as class secretary his junior and senior year. He has been a member of the Blue Crew and Varsity Club. Conner is currently training to become an official for youth basketball, baseball, softball, and football games.

Conner is a 2-sport athlete, competing in both baseball and bowling.  Conner is a 3-year letter winner in baseball. He was named co-Captain his sophomore year. Conner has earned honorable mention All-EOAC as a freshman. Conner currently holds the school record for home runs in a season. In the off-season, Conner competes in the Youngstown Class-B baseball league at Cene Park. Conner has volunteered his time as a scorekeeper for the junior high sports teams for the past two seasons.

Conner plans to continue his education and playing career at the collegiate level as he pursues a degree in occupational therapy.

Emma Duncan, daughter of Robert and Heidi Duncan of Salineville, has been selected as the Kiwanis Student of the Month for October at Southern Local High School. She has a 3.905 grade point average and is ranked 16th in her graduating class.

Emma has been an Honor Roll student during her 3 years of her high school career. Emma was inducted this past May into the National Honor Society as a junior. She is currently enrolled in College Credit Plus courses. Emma's extracurriculars include, a 3 year member of the Spanish Club and a year member of the Art Club. This year, she is a member of the Student Council.

Emma earned a varsity letter in cheerleading this fall. Outside of school, Emma has been a BB Ranger Officer Assistant for BSA Cub Scouts Day Camp each of the past 5 years. As a 2 year student with McLaughlin Martial Arts, she has achieved the rank of purple belt. In 2019-20, she was a PKC National Champion in weapons and was the 2019 PKC State Champion in sparring.

Emma has been accepted to Youngstown State University, where she plans to major in forensic science.

Bradly Sloan has been selected as the Kiwanis Student of the Month for September at Southern Local High School.

Bradly, the son of Rich and Christy Sloan of Wellsville. Bradly holds a 4.0 grade point average and ranks 12th in his class. Bradly has been an Honor Roll student his three years of his high school career. Bradly was inducted this past May into the National Honor Society as a junior. Bradly has participated in the College Credit Plus program and has taken Advanced Placement courses, as well as training for industrial maintenance at the New Castle School of Trades. Outside of his studies, he is a member of the Spanish Club and the Varsity Club.

Bradly is a four-sport athlete who has accumulated 10 varsity letters in just over three years of competition. As a freshman, he qualified for the OHSAA State Track Tournament for the long jump. Bradly holds the school records for both the long jump and the 100 M dash. A four-year letter winner in football, Bradly has received recognition all four years from the Quad County coaches association, Columbiana County coaches, the Eastern Ohio Athletic Conference, Ohio Valley Athletic Conference and the North East Inland District.

Bradly has worked for Craig's Lawn Service and J&J Tire. He hopes to attend either the U.S. Military Academy at West Point or the U.S. Air Force.
