Southern Local / Salineville Kiwanis
Ella Rose has been selected as May Kiwanis Student of the Month by Southern Local High School.
Ella is the granddaughter of Brenda Rose of Salineville. Ella is currently ranked 16th in her class with a 3.63 grade point average.
Ella has been a member of Student Council, Visual Art Club and Science Club and she has been a Southern Local Cheerleader for 8 years.
After high school, Ella plans to attend Kent State University to pursue a career in nursing.
April 2022 Kiwanis Student of the Month

Elizabeth Mostella has been selected as April Kiwanis Student of the Month by Southern Local High School.
Elizabeth is the daughter of Jerry and Emily Mostella of Salineville. Elizabeth is currently ranked 7th in her class with a 3.97 grade point average.
Elizabeth is an active member of the National Honor Society and Student Council. She is treasurer of the Student Council. Elizabeth volunteers to tutor elementary students during the school day. She also has had perfect attendance since kindergarten.
Elizabeth's extra-curricular activities include basketball, track, volleyball and golf. She is a 3-year basketball captain and youth basketball coach.
After high school, Elizabeth plans to attend Kent State University to pursue a career in Early Childhood Education.
March 2022 Kiwanis Student of the Month
Southern Local / Salineville Kiwanis
Andrew DeSellem has been selected as March Kiwanis Student of the Month at Southern Local High School.
Andrew is the son of Frank DeSellem of Salineville. Andrew is currently ranked 4th in his class with a 4.157 grade point average.
Andrew is an active member of the Southern Local FFA Chapter. He has held office his junior and senior years. His junior year, Andrew was the Chapter's treasurer. His senior, Andrew was the Chapter's president. In 2019, Andrew was a member of the FFA Soils Team that placed in the top 5 to advanced to the State Contest. In 2020, Andrew placed as an individual in the Soils Team. He placed 4th in the District FFA Soil Judging Contest. He was also a member of the Parliamentary Team. He has participated in the Marcus K. Walters Spaghetti Dinners all four years. On May 6th, at the FFA State Convention in Columbus, Andrew received his Ohio FFA State Degree.
Andrew was the senior class treasurer, a member of the National Honor Society, and has participated in the College Credit Plus Program at Eastern Gateway Community College. He was a member of the 2019 baseball team. In 2022, Andrew was a Basketball Homecoming Court Attendant.
Outside of school, Andrew was a member to the Columbiana County Farm Bureau. He was the Columbiana County Youth representative at Ag Day at the Capitol in Columbus in 2022. He was an ATG member where he enjoyed wrestling and Jiu Jitsu. Andrew was a volunteer fire fighter with the Franklin Township Fire Department. He has volunteered at the FFA Alumni Food Stand, Kiwanis Rose Sale, NHS Blood Drive.
After high school, Andrew plans are to pursue a higher education in either Agriculture law or business.
February 2022 Kiwanis Student of the Month

Rebecca "Becca" Possage has been selected as February Kiwanis Student of the Month at Southern Local High School.
Rebecca is the daughter of Joel and Wendy Possage of Tiltonsville, OH. Becca is currently ranked 13th in her class with a 3.74 Grade Point Average.
Becca show so much pride in all her school accomplishments. She participates in student council and yearbook. She is a member of the cheerleading squad. Her freshman year, Becca received the most improved in Cheerleading. Her sophomore year, she received the most School spirit and Indian award. Becca has been cheer captain for the last 2 years.
Becca plans to attend Youngstown State University and major in Early Childhood Education.
January 2022 Kiwanis Student of the Month
Southern Local / Salineville Kiwanis
Sebastian Bach has been selected as January Kiwanis Student of the Month at Southern Local High School.
Sebastian is the son of Kenneth and Crystal Bach of Salineville. Sebastian is currently ranked 2nd in his class with a 4.26 Grade Point Average.
Sebastian takes College Credit Plus classes. He is actively involved in technology at the school and works alongside Southern's IT Coordinator. He is a 3-year letterman in golf. Outside of school, Sebastian trained for 5 years and received a black belt in martial arts.
Sebastian plans to attend Kent State University where he plans to major in the technology field.
December 2021 Kiwanis Student of the Month

Cameron White has been selected as December Kiwanis Student of the Month at Southern Local High School.
Cameron is the granddaughter of Kenny and Rebecca Tennant and niece of special aunt Amanda Tennant of Salineville. Cameron is currently ranked eleventh in her class with a 3.75 grade point average.
Cameron is a member of the student council, yearbook and has been on the honor roll during her high school career. Her artwork has been displayed in the school's virtual art show in 2020 and 2021. Her extra curricular activities include cheerleading. She has been a cheerleader for nine years and lettered for three years.
Upon graduation, Cameron plans on furthering her education through the Columbiana County Career Center and become a state-tested nursing assistant (STNA) so she can pursue her joy of helping others.
November 2021 Kiwanis Student of the Month
Southern Local/Salineville Kiwanis
Emily Flannery has been selected as November Salineville Kiwanis Student of the Month at Southern Local High School.
Emily is the daughter of Michael and Jennifer Flannery of Aliquippi, Pa. Emily is currently ranked fifth in her class with a 4.126 grade point average.
Emily has participated in yearbook and hoped to join student council, Science Club and track this year. Upon graduation, she will have taken 21 credit hours at Eastern Gateway Community College through College Credit Plus.
Emily plans to continue her education at EGCC and hope to go on to Youngstown State University to study electrical engineering or dietetics, saying she was influenced by her parents since her father is an electrical engineer and her mother has taught her about nutrition.
October 2021 Kiwanis Student of the Month
Southern Local/Salineville Kiwanis
Emily Walker has been selected as October Salineville Kiwanis Student of the Month at Southern Local High School.
Emily is the daughter of Steve Walker and Shannon Marra of Summitville. Emily is currently ranked first in her class with a 4.305 grade point average.
Emily has demonstrated exemplary academic achievement throughout her high school career as an honor roll student and made the Dean's List at Kent State University multiple times while completing 36 hours of credits through College Credit Plus. Other accomplishments include being inducted into the National Honor Society, serving as a class treasurer and Vice President, becoming Vice President of the school FFA chapter and acting as student council secretary. She was also involved with the yearbook and was nominated for the Fall 2020 Homecoming Court.
In her spare time, Emily enjoys working at J.T. Pitstop and raising her three rabbits. Her future plans are to attend college and study business with a minor in accounting.
September 2021 Kiwanis Student of the Month
Southern Local/Salineville Kiwanis
Ronni Mayfield has been selected as September Salineville Kiwanis Student of the Month at Southern Local High School.
Ronni Mayfield is the daughter of Jason and Amanda Mayfield of Hammondsville. Ronni holds a 3.311 grade point average.
Ronni has had a multi-faceted high school career in athletics and school organizations. She is captain of the softball and volleyball teams, a four-year member and three-year letterman in softball, volleyball and basketball, a two-year letterman in bowling and has played the xylophone in the SLHS Marching Band for five years. Ronni has been named to the East Ohio All-Conference for bowling, earned Indian Awards for volleyball and bowling and received a Tomahawk Award for basketball.
In addition, she currently acts as both the senior class and student council president. Ronni has served with the class cabinet and drama club for four years each, student council for three years and yearbook staff for two years. She has also taken courses through College Credit Plus during her time at Southern Local.
Ronni plans to attend college upon graduation and pursue a career as an occupational therapy assistant.
